“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Men (UMM) was organized in 2001. In 2002, the men decided to host the first Men’s Barbecue (now being held each May) and began to offer smoked turkey for sale during Thanksgiving for the purpose of raising funds to support various missions. These two annual fundraising efforts were the beginning of the group moving from a “fellowship” organization to a “service” organization.
Since then, the UMM have adopted numerous service projects. Through The Texas Ramp Project, the UMM are now constructing 12 to 14 wheelchair ramps yearly for the needy throughout Van Zandt County.
The UMM also support a Cub Scout Den, financially assist youth in attending summer and mid-winter church camp, provide scholarship funds for graduating seniors, support the church Block Party, and host an annual Valentine’s Breakfast honoring the women of the church.
The UMM meet every second Saturday of the month, 8:30 AM for a UMM Breakfast Meeting in the Adult Fellowship Hall.
